WINJURIS

OVERVIEW

court management softwareWinJuris is an extremely flexible program, designed to work in both criminal and civil courts of any size. The program documents basic court information such as defendants, witnesses, offenses, fines, costs, payments, minutes, paper service, bonding information, court documents and correspondence. WinJuris has a full accounting program built in, which includes the ability to automatically distribute payments to state/local agencies, create daily and monthly accounting reports, document receipts, and print checks. Numerous reports and queries allow you to track a variety of information.

The WinJuris program can be connected to police departments via our Incident Solutions Program. This program allows the police to enter their citation or arrest information. Later, the court can import the police information into the WinJuris system, thereby limiting the amount of information that the court has to enter into the computer. WinJuris can also be set-up to allow the court to insert the information such as citations/tickets into the WinJuris without the involvement of the police department.

SECURITY

Like all PTS programs, WinJuris requires a unique Log-On ID and Password to enter the system. The Log-On ID provides the ability to track the user's activities in certain areas of the system. For instance, the Log-On ID of the person receiving a payment is automatically attached to the payment amount, payment date and the receipt. In order to void or change that payment amount, the user must have the permission to do so. User permissions are established by the court's system administrator. They decide who gets the ability to insert, edit, delete information throughout WinJuris.

PRODUCT FLOW

Information Input

You can use WinJuris as a standalone system, or in connection with Incident Solutions (optional), limiting the need for duplicate data entry. The court and police department can set view/edit/delete permissions so that both can be sure that only the appropriate individuals are accessing the data.

Information Output

Numerous standard reports and displays are included: a checking account register, viewing issued receipts, overdue accounts report, crime reports, balance summaries, etc. A custom report writer for nonstandard reports is supplied by PTS. Several queries and search engines are also included in WinJuris. Graphs and charts can be exported to Microsoft Excel for use with that program's pivot table function.

The Court Docket

Enter all pertinent information in the dockets, including: parties, offenses, fines/costs, ourt minutes, correspondence involved in the case and more. Most information can be viewed from one window. Additional information is just a click away. Dockets can be auto-numbered using a numbering scheme defined by the court and entered during the set-up process. This enables the court to easily keep track of how many cases have passed through your court.

Court Party ID File

To eliminate duplicate work, the court clerk adds each case party's ID record to the system only once. That ID record is then easily-selectable throughout the application. This helps maintain an activity history on each individual entered into the system. The ID File documents information such as address(es), date of birth, personal id number, telephone numbers, employer, height, weight, hair/eye color, gang information, known associates, aliases, etc.

Details

Correspondence between the agency and any party associated with the case is filed in the details section of the docket. Users can print letters, notices and reports such as subpoenas, court orders, petitions and judgments.

Minutes

Clerks can document activities of court proceedings using WinJuris's minute features; they can insert pleas, the verdict, the next court date, sentencing information, reduce/waive the fine or cost amount(s), issue a warrant and set up a partial payment schedule. Most minute details can be selected from drop-down lists predefined by your systems administrator.

Offenses/Filings

Each court can set up its own state and local offense information. The standard or default fine and cost amounts can be attached to each offense in the file. Attaching the monetary amounts enables the fees to be assigned automatically whenever that offense appears on a docket. This prevents the court clerks from having to determine the appropriate amount to charge.

Warrants & Citations

Warrants entered into the WinJuris system can include associated photos. When a warrant is entered on an individual, that eprson's name appears in red throughout the system, thereby alerting every clerk to active warrants. The citation file can keep track of all tickets given to the court by law enforcement. Offenses, vehicle information, blood alcohol content, and more citation details are documented.

Accounting

WinJuris includes a full court accounting package. The system automatically inserts the owed amounts based on the offense attached to the docket. Receipts are automatically generated for payments and cash bonds applied to the owed amounts and can be viewed at any time.

The receipts report shows the money collected on a day, and the daily distribution report that shows the amount of money paid out. Weekly and monthly printouts are also available for these reports.

Users can write and print checks, which are tracked using the included checking account register. End-of-month bank statement reconciliation is available. Other reports and tracking systems include: defendants' balance summary, income/expense report and an aged accounts receivable report.
