JACKSON COUNTY, MS PARTNERS WITH PTS ON INFO SHARING INITIATIVE
PASCAGOULA, MS — Through an initiative led by Jackson County, MS Sheriff Mike Byrd, local law enforcement agencies using technologies provided by PTS Solutions and the Pegasus Program are being provided significant new law enforcement information sharing capabilities. As these capabilities are accessed, officers in other jurisdictions will have better information about persons wanted for crimes in Jackson County, and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies will have better information about crimes committed in other counties across the Nation.
“In today’s highly mobile world, fighting crime depends on having good information from other jurisdictions,” said Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd. “PTS Solutions is taking a leadership position to make sure our office can cost-effectively share our information with other agencies, that they can enforce, and to make sure our deputies have access to other agencies’ information, that we can enforce.”
The initiative makes information owned by local agencies using PTS Solutions software more powerful in solving crimes. Public Safety Software provider PTS Solutions has partnered with the Pegasus Program to provide an interface between PTS Solutions-provided systems that are then connected by Pegasus.
“The public thinks these capabilities are in place now, but that is not the case: it takes committed agencies and committed and capable technology providers like PTS Solutions to make it happen,” said Dr. Lee Colwell, Program Executive for the Pegasus Program. “With these new capabilities, law enforcement officers in multiple states will be more effective and efficient in solving crimes and maintaining public safety.”
As part of this initiative, PTS Solutions is an active service provider for the Pegasus Program. The Pegasus Program is a free nationwide online information sharing initiative available to local law enforcement agencies. The Pegasus Program is supported by the National Sheriff’s Association and its services are made possible by a grant from the United States Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).
“I wish to commend Sheriff Byrd and his entire team, and PTS Solutions for their leadership in information sharing,” said Sheriff Tommy Ferrell, Past President of the National Sheriff’s Association, Chairman of the Pegasus Advisory Board, and Retired Sheriff of Adams County, MS. “By partnering with Pegasus, PTS Solutions is providing a valuable service for its law enforcement clients that also serves the greater public good: solving more crimes and making our communities safer without spending more tax dollars,” says Ferrell. “This initiative by PTS Solutions, along with other leading service providers, is an example of how private enterprise assists Pegasus Program Local-2-Local information sharing among law enforcement agencies nationwide.”
“By interfacing with the Pegasus Program, PTS is taking steps to ensure our clients are able to share non-intelligence, fact-based information using one of the most secure and cost effective programs available,” explained PTS Director of Operations Jamie Peay. “Being able to share information such as local warrants between geographically connected agencies will be a great tool for PTS clients and the entire law enforcement community.”
The Interface is provided to PTS clients at no charge and can be installed remotely in just a few hours. For more information please contact PTS.

NORTHWESTERN STATE CHOOSES PTS SOLUTIONS
Natchitoches, LA — PTS Solutions, Inc. announced this week that Northwestern State University (NSU) in Natchitoches Louisiana has selected PTS Solutions as its new public safety software provider. The NSU University Police Department will use the new software to dispatch officers and to track and report incidents at the university.
“We look forward to enhancing our ability to serve the NSU Community,” explained NSU University Police Detective Doug Prescott. “Our previous records management system was obsolete and the PTS Solutions system is a state of the art work in progress for us.”

The PTS Software, which includes a Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) and Incident Reporting Management System (RMS), will provide the University Police an opportunity to link calls for service to dates, times, people and offenses. Department dispatchers will document received calls, and initiate a report in the CAD system and then dispatch the call out to the officers in the field. Once the officers respond to the calls they will be able to enter their reports into laptop computers which are already being utilized within the patrol vehicles.
One of the goals of the new software purchase was to increase the time that officers can remain in the field. Spending time in the field instead of the office reduces incident response time and increases patrol visibility. Having access to reporting software from a patrol vehicle is a major factor in accomplishing this goal.
“With the old system the officers would have to come off of the streets into the office to enter their reports onto a single dedicated desktop,” Prescott said. “Using the new PTS system each officer can enter his reports in a timely and more efficient manner, from the field and from his patrol unit.”
The project is currently in the implementation and planning stages. Training on the new system is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
“We are very pleased that the Northwestern State University Police selected PTS Solutions as their public safety software provider,” said PTS President Dave Fuqua. “We are looking forward to working with the department to help them gain access to the information they need to keep the university, the students and the community safe and informed.”
Northwestern State University (NSU) is a four year public institution of higher education and part of the University of Louisiana System. NSU serves a student population of over 9,000 most of whom are located on the 916 acre main campus located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The University Police Department provides 7 days a week, 24 hours a day patrol protection for the Natchitoches campus, parking areas, and residence complexes.

PTS PARTNERSHIP ADDS DIGITICKET E-CITATION SOLUTION TO PUBLIC SAFETY SUITE
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — PTS Solutions, Inc (PTS) and Saltus Technologies (Saltus) announced this week that they have formed a partnership to integrate Saltus’ digiTICKET e-Citation Solution into PTS Solutions’ Public Safety Software Suite. The digiTICKET system is capable of creating any ticket using an easily customized ticket format – including traffic, parking, pedestrian, code enforcement, city, county, parish or state standard forms. The ticket can be signed electronically by the offender and printed in the field. Easy-to-use digiTICKET software running on handheld computers or laptop computers automatically updates all officer, court and violation information upon secure login by each officer.
“We are extremely pleased to have Saltus Technologies as our new electronic ticketing partner,” said PTS President Dave Fuqua. “Their digiTICKET product is one of the most affordable, comprehensive and easiest to use products in the market. We look forward to bringing their technology to our clients.”
PTS customers using digiTICKET and Incident Solutions will spend considerably less time creating and importing tickets. The digiTICKET system scans driver’s licenses, state and military IDs from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Citation issuance times are typically reduced by more than 50% and the import of citation data into the RMS happens with the click of a button.
“Getting your agency personnel off the road and back into a safe location is another benefit to this product.” Fuqua said. “Improving officer safety is always a top priority.”
Integrating the digiTICKET e-Citation system with PTS RMS eliminates data input errors typically occurring with traditional methods. By automating the ticketing process in the field, errors related to incorrect or incomplete data on the tickets as well as issues with handwriting are eliminated completely. The system also offers the benefit of capturing additional digital content such as pictures, GPS coordinates, voice notes and electronic signatures. All of this information is then available through a robust online management system where ticketing data can be reported on and tickets can be reproduced in PDF format.
“Saltus is very excited about our partnership with PTS Solutions. PTS is a proven, mature company in the Public Safety arena and our solutions are very complementary. We’re pleased that PTS Solutions has selected digiTICKET as their preferred e-Citation solution. It continues to validate our belief that digiTICKET is the industry’s new leader in e-Citation technology,” said Eric Fultz, President and CEO of Saltus Technologies.
Saltus Technologies is dedicated to providing innovative mobile digital ticketing and electronic citation solutions for law enforcement. Its digiTICKET digital eCitation system provides an immediate and impressive return on investment (ROI) by replacing handwritten tickets. The leaders of Saltus Technology bring a heritage of mobile software development dating back to 1997. For more information, visit www.saltustechnologies.com.
